↗ ABOUT MISCHIEF ↗

NOT YOUR AVERAGEDIGITAL AGENCY.

Most agencies are run by people who learned marketing in a classroom. We were built by someone who's actually built brands — and got completely obsessed with why some are impossible to ignore.

THE OBSESSION

WHY DOES A $500 BAG
SELL FOR $20,000?

Why does a handbag with $500 of fabric and labour sell out at $20,000? Why will people fight in the comments defending their brand of cola? Why do some products create midnight queues, two-minute pre-sale sellouts, and fans who'd never consider switching?

The answer isn't the product. It's the brand. The story. The feeling it creates. The strongest brands in the world aren't just selling things — they're selling identity, belonging, and belonging to something worth fighting for.

That question is what started all of this. And it's the lens through which Mischief Digital approaches every brand, website, and campaign we build.

We don't just build digital things. We build brands people actually care about.

THE PROBLEM

WHAT MOST AGENCIES
GET WRONG.

After years of building real businesses, these are the patterns that keep showing up.

01

They play it safe.

Middle of the road strategy. Generic creative. Predictable campaigns. And then they wonder why they're getting average results instead of extraordinary ones.

02

Tactics without strategy.

Testing button colours isn't a strategy. You need campaigns built on a clear idea — not endless data collection hoping something sticks.

03

No brand. Just campaigns.

They chase clicks without ever building something people care about. Short-term performance metrics. Long-term brand erosion. All tactics, no soul.

04

They're not your partner.

They take their fee whether it works or not. No skin in the game. No urgency to actually move the needle. Just invoices and decks full of slides.

05

Zero accountability.

No clear targets. No measurable done/not-done outcomes. No honest way to tell if the work is actually working. Just vibes and vanity metrics.

06

You never talk to anyone useful.

The senior person sells you the work. A junior delivers it. Three briefings later, the strategy is lost and the output is forgettable.

THE MISCHIEF WAY

WE DO DIGITAL
DIFFERENTLY.

STRATEGY FIRST. ALWAYS.

We build the brand before we build the campaigns. Every tactic has a strategic reason behind it. We know where we're going before we start spending your money.

BOLD OR BUST.

Middle of the road doesn't produce extraordinary results. We push for the idea that makes your competitors nervous — because safe is just another word for forgettable.

REAL PARTNERSHIP.

We work like your business is our business. We care whether it works. We'll tell you when something isn't performing and we'll fix it — not just report on it.

ACCOUNTABLE BY DESIGN.

Clear targets. Measurable outcomes. Done/not-done accountability. You'll always know exactly what we're working toward and whether we got there.

THE FOUNDER

THE PERSON
BEHIND THE
MISCHIEF.

Blair Wilson — Founder, Mischief Digital

Blair Wilson

Founder, Mischief Digital

I didn't come up through an agency. I came up building businesses.

I started at McDonald's, became one of the youngest Restaurant Managers in New Zealand at 23, then spent years as Operations Manager running a franchise group — 230 staff, a $14 million budget, and a relentless focus on what makes a brand actually perform.

I ran Mitre 10 MEGA stores as General Manager. I took on a store with five consecutive years of sales decline and reversed it. Then worked across Z Energy's 200+ site national network, lifting performance across independently run operators.

Then I did the thing that changed everything: I built Wilson Barbecue.

From a part-time food truck with two people to three sites, a nationwide rub and sauce range stocked in retailers across New Zealand, and a team of 30. We won awards. And we set a world record for burgers sold in a single day.

Wilson Barbecue ran until 2025, when a combination of post-COVID conditions and a brutal cost-of-living squeeze did what a pandemic alone couldn't. We were liquidated. The brand was strong. The conditions were brutal. And I came out the other side with the most valuable lesson I've ever learned about building a business.

Marketing can build a brand people love. But without the operations to support it — the systems, the processes, the infrastructure — even the strongest brand will eventually collapse under its own momentum.

That's why Mischief Digital is built around the whole picture. Brand, websites, and marketing that work together — backed by the kind of operational thinking that only comes from having actually run businesses under real pressure.

I have an MBA. I've managed multi-million dollar P&Ls. I've built and scaled real operations from scratch. Now I've channelled everything I know about what makes a business grow — and what kills it — into Mischief Digital.

Mischief Digital is new. The expertise isn't.

That's why Mischief Digital focuses on food and hospitality. It's the world I've actually built in — and I know what it takes to fill a room and build a brand people come back for.

Especially food and beverage brands and multi-site operators — because I've built a retail food brand and run multi-site networks myself, I know what it takes to grow one and what kills it.

HOW WE WORK

LEAN BY DESIGN.
EXPERT-LED
ON EVERYTHING.

When you work with Mischief Digital, you work with me — not a junior who's been briefed three times down the line. I bring in trusted specialist partners when the work needs it, but you always have a senior strategic operator in your corner who's actually built businesses before.

No bloated overhead. No account management theatre. No layers between you and the work. Just smart, fast, accountable execution from someone who understands what's at stake for your business.

Big agency thinking. None of the agency nonsense.
